New Feature – Onsite Wi-Fi on the i-ctrl

Built to Make Installs Simpler

  • Netcelero has added onsite Wi-Fi to select i-ctrl models, broadcast from whatever connection the device is already using, including Starlink, 4G, 5G, or fibre.

  • Installers and engineers can log on with a phone or laptop to access the Netcelero portal, complete SCADA configs, or troubleshoot on site.

  • The same Wi-Fi also supports Wi-Fi calling, so field teams can reach colleagues and stakeholders even where there is no mobile signal.

Anyone who has installed connectivity equipment on a remote site knows the problem. You’re in a portacabin, a plant room, or out at a solar farm gate, and there is no site Wi-Fi, no fixed line, and often no mobile signal either. Checking the portal, pulling up a config, or calling a colleague for a second opinion suddenly becomes its own project.

We built a new feature to fix exactly that.

What’s new

Select i-ctrl models can now broadcast their own local Wi-Fi network onsite. The i-ctrl uses whatever connection it already has, whether that’s Starlink, 4G, 5G, or fibre, and shares it out as a Wi-Fi hotspot that installers and engineers can log onto with a phone or laptop.

Why it matters

Two problems, one feature:

  • Installation and troubleshooting. An installer on site can connect to the i-ctrl’s Wi-Fi and get straight onto the Netcelero portal, or their own systems, to complete SCADA configs, check device status, or diagnose an issue, all without needing separate site connectivity.
  • Wi-Fi calling. If there’s no mobile signal, the same Wi-Fi connection supports Wi-Fi calling, so installers can call peers, support, or other stakeholders directly from site rather than losing time hunting for a signal.

How it looks in practice

Picture a solar site running on Starlink with no mobile coverage nearby. The i-ctrl on site is already delivering a fixed public IP over that Starlink connection. Now, it also gives the installer a local Wi-Fi network to log onto. From there they can reach the Netcelero portal, access their own systems to finish SCADA configuration, or simply make a Wi-Fi call back to the office if they need a hand.

Availability

This feature is available on select i-ctrl models. If you’d like to know whether your deployed units support it, or want it included on your next order, get in touch with the Netcelero team.
